Installation
Step 1 Apply for TIME Fibre Home Broadband™ using any of the following methods:
• Online application form
• Contact our account manager or dealer
Step 2 TIME will call you to set an appointment date for installation or you can select a date to your convenience
Step 3 You will receive a courtesy call from our TIME installer before the scheduled installation date
Step 4 Our TIME installer will lay a fibre connection on your premises on the day of installation

Make the Most of Your Broadband
My Device and Usage
 
Ensure your device are all connected properly
  • Computers and devices that are not connected properly do affect the broadband speed subscribed.

Recommendation
  • Please ensure that all the devices are connected and properly placed in an open area.
  • Make sure that the power is on and the wires are all connected.
  • It is recommended to use LAN cable in order to experience maximum speed.
 
Is destination network and web server the problem?
 
Website and web server capabilities
  • Some websites and destination web servers do not have the capability to handle high volume of traffic and your connection may slow down or even stop as a result.
  • Some websites may even be hosted in web servers that have a limited access speed.

Recommendation
  • Try accessing the website during non-peak hours or at alternate times when website congestion subsides.
 
Is WiFi a problem?
 
Understand the WiFi impact in your environment
  • WiFi is a wireless signal transmitted to a device to connect to the Internet. There are many factors that can contribute to poor signal in your house.
  • Metals, walls, glasses and other soft furnishing can reduce and absorb the wireless signal.
  • Rain, thunder, house design and any other external factors which TIME does not have control may reduce your broadband speed.
 
Check for electrical interference
  • Electrical equipment can cause interference.
  • Frequencies like radio signal, microwave and other wireless signals can cause the signal to drop.

Recommendation
  • Try turning off electrical devices to check if they are interfering.
 
Understand the WiFi signal range
  • Always understand that TIME provides a basic home WiFi router to customers where it is not suitable for external use.
  • In some situations, the WiFi signals may be poor if your house is large and have many partitions.

Recommendation
  • Always ensure that the router must be positioned in an open or in a central location of an area. This will distribute the signal evenly.
  • Do not put any device or equipment on the router or put the router in a enclosed area.
 
Security does matter!
  • Unless you've secured your wireless network using WEP, WPA or Mac Address authentication, a neighbour or someone else nearby could be freeloading off your connection, dragging the overall service performance down.
  • Speeds shouldn't be your only security concern, in addition to occupying up your bandwidth, they could also be hosting illegal spam servers or downloading pirated content.

Recommendation
  • These illegal activities could result in your service provider punishing you for their bad behavior, so it's in your best interest to secure your WiFi network with security and password.
 
My Speed Test
 
Test your connection speed
  • Some speed test websites provide speed testing services that choose the speed test server hosted by other Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • The speed may not be optimal as there will be other factors affecting the speed such as the location of the server hosted, the route to the server and server capability.

Recommendation
 
When should I contact my service provider?
 
Conduct your own speed test beforehand
  • If your speed results are less than 80 percent of your subscribed rate, you may need to contact TIME Contact Centre to report this problem.
  • Make sure you test this at different times as the broadband speed may be affected only during peak hours.
 
Check everything, one device at a time
  • It may be tempting to take shortcuts, but it's your responsibility to verify the performance of every computer or device on your network thoroughly.
  • If you've followed and understand all the scenarios and troubleshooting guidelines listed above, verifying that there are no identifiable issues with your browser, applications, CPU, wireless access point, cables, switches, routers or any other components on your LAN (and if you have, we are impressed), contact TIME for further troubleshooting.
