TIME FIBRE BROADBAND CONNECTS 50Mbps DIRECT TO HOMES!

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Feb 2010 - TIME dotCom Berhad (TdC), a leading fixed-line telecommunications solution provider in Malaysia, launched TIME Fibre Broadband, a high speed Internet access service that offers users access at speeds of up to 50Mbps (Megabits per second), the fastest available to consumers today.

Utilising state-of-the-art fibre optic technology enables TIME to offer a more stable and secure Internet connection than wireless broadband technology as it is not susceptible to interference that may degrade the quality of wireless connections. Fibre optic technology is also free from problems that plague wireless technology, such as a multitude of competing standards, bottlenecks at base stations resulting from having shared capacity and congestion in the airwaves.

Compared to copper centric or hybrid networks, fibre optics is able to carry more than 1000 times more information than a same sized copper cable. TIME Fibre Broadband connected directly to homes makes possible seamless file sharing, downloading of high-definition (HD) content, "zero-lag" video conferencing and allowing for real time applications and online entertainment at blazing speeds and without bandwidth interruption. Furthermore, TdC's fully-meshed network enables quick and easy scalability that will address the future needs of Internet users in Malaysia, essentially securing the growth potential of the Malaysian innovation economy.

Launching the new service, TdC's Chief Executive Officer, Afzal Abdul Rahim, said that TdC is the only telecommunications solution provider in Malaysia that offers 100 percent fibre optic connection direct to the home. "The idea behind this new service is in realising the possibilities of big bandwidth broadband, where download and upload speeds range anywhere within a mere five seconds to five minutes for mp3 files, video clips and even HD movies. Needless to say, with the large bandwidth capacity, users will experience better clarity, service stability and streaming not only with audio and video files, but also activities that require higher bandwidth support, like real-time online gaming."

"We are focused on delivering the first and only pure fibre optic broadband network while others work on packaging services around existing or hybrid infrastructure. Simply put, TIME Fibre Broadband is the answer to the long awaited needs of Malaysian Internet users, providing the highest speed and bandwidth capacity available in Malaysia," said Afzal while demonstrating the capabilities of TIME Fibre Broadband, by performing multiple video calls, streaming of HD content, downloading multiple HD movie trailers and playing a network game online.

Capitalising on the speed and strength of TdC's existing fibre optic infrastructure, the service is currently available in Mont Kiara, with coverage expanding progressively over the next few months in the Klang Valley area. Included in the base packages as a unique value-added service, customers will be able to experience BOOST speeds of up to 50Mbps on demand. TIME Fibre Broadband is being offered at competitive rates ranging from RM149 to RM329 for 2Mbps to 10Mbps service packages.
